Urban Company signs agreement with NSDC to train and upskill unskilled workers

Salon, Spa & Massage, Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters, Appliance Repair, and Cleaning & Pest Control are trades that the online home services company, Urban Company (formerly Urban Clap) intends to train thousands of freshers/unskilled workers in. The company signed an agreement with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for digital certification under under the Scheme for Market Led Fee Based Services program by NSDC. The training programs range from 7 days to 45 days, depending on the candidate’s skill level and profession chosen. The company operates over 100 training centers pan India, and has an in-house team of 200+ full time trainers.

The partnership agreement was signed by Mani Tiwari, Chief Operating Officer and Officiating CEO, NSDC and Abhiraj Bhal, CEO & Co-founder Urban Company.  Bhal commenting on the partnership, said, “Skilling, reskilling and upskilling the country’s youth to enable them to become micro-entrepreneurs and earn sustainable livelihood is of paramount importance. And in this, our partnership with NSDC becomes all the more crucial. Our collaboration will help drive innovation and job creation, thereby new opportunities via skilling for unskilled workers.”
