Jaladhar-based Lovely Professional University (LPU) on January 4 announced the appointment of Professor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu as its new Vice Chancellor. Dr. Sandhu is a former Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
A distinguished academician, Dr. Sandhu has played a key role in advancing sports medicine education, having pioneered MD, Ph.D., and Master’s in Physical Therapy programs at Government Medical College, Amritsar. A gold medalist from the same institution, he furthered his specialization at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala, where he was recognized as the university’s best student. His academic contributions include nearly 250 research papers published in national and international brings a wealth of experience in higher education administration and sports medicine.
As Vice Chancellor of LPU, Dr. Sandhu envisions enhancing interdisciplinary learning, strengthening research initiatives, and expanding global collaborations. His leadership aims to create a dynamic and innovative academic environment, fostering holistic student development.
