Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences inaugurated its Navgrah Vatika (Garden of Nine Planets) on 1st July 2025, marking a significant step towards integrating traditional Indian knowledge with ecological sustainability.

The garden was inaugurated by Prof. Balaram Pani, Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi, in the gracious presence of Prof. Avneesh Mittal, Principal of the college. To celebrate Van Mahotsav 2025, nine sacred plants representing the nine planets (Navgrah) were planted within the college campus. The plantation drive was enthusiastically carried out by the staff and students, symbolizing a shared commitment to environmental conservation and cultural heritage.

The initiative was organized under the leadership of Prof. Eram S Rao, Convener, Garden Committee; Pranahi ECO Club, Convener: Dr. Amandeep Kaur; and the Indian Knowledge System Club, Convener: Dr. Shikha Srivastava. The Navgrah Vatika aims to serve as a living classroom, inspiring students and visitors to appreciate the rich connections between nature, culture, and sustainability.

“The establishment of the Navgrah Vatika is a space that symbolically and spiritually reinforces our relationship with nature, traditional wisdom, and the cosmic energies represented by the nine planets. Through this initiative, we aim to cultivate awareness, respect, and responsibility towards our surroundings among students and the broader community,” said Prof. Avneesh Mittal, Principal, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences.
