The Society of Petroleum Geophysicists India (SPG) on Oct 25 announced that its flagship Geoscience Career Symposium, a highlight of the ongoing SPG 2025 conclave, being held in Jaipur. Designed to cultivate the next generation of energy professionals, the initiative focuses on connecting organizations with students graduating in 2026 in geology, geophysics, and petroleum engineering from top institutes across India.
“For the students in our sector, we have established 18 chapters across disciplines including geophysics, geology, and petroleum sciences. We invite two students from each specialization to explore diverse career options. Our comprehensive process includes invitations, note shortlisting, and conducting both online and offline tests to help students understand their standing. The entire selection mechanism involves multiple stages, from initial invitations to interviews as required,” an official of SPG said.
The platform features dedicated recruitment sessions, mentorship programs, and career guidance workshops, enabling organizations to identify qualified candidates while providing students exposure to real-world energy sector opportunities. This industry-academia interface ensures talented students receive appropriate guidance and opportunities to contribute to India’s energy security.
The Geoscience Career Symposium forms part of SPG’s larger mission to nurture young geoscientists through its network of 18 student chapters across the country. With over 3,500 members and nine regional chapters, SPG India continues to play a pivotal role in advancing geophysical sciences and supporting the energy sector’s human resource development.
