BITS School of Management, (BITSoM), the Mumbai-based business school from BITS Pilani ‘s national-level inter-college business plan competition for undergraduate and postgraduate students in India called ‘BITSoM Business Valley’ is open for registrations open till 17-March-2022 on https://bit.ly/biz_valley. Teams wishing to participate must be of between two and four members and may include a faculty member from their respective institution. ‘BITSoM Business Valley’ will give students the opportunity to pitch their start-up ideas to some of the best entrepreneurial minds in the country. The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, the first runner-up team would receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the second runner-up team will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The business plans will be judged by a panel of leaders from the start-up and innovation space. The five-member panel comprises of Hari Menon, Co-founder and CEO of BigBasket; Alka Goel, Founding Partner, Alkemi Growth Capital; Shrijeet Mishra, Chief Innovation Officer and Head Group Services at Aditya Birla Group; Rohit Chanana, leading angel investor, and Founder & Managing Partner at Sarcha Advisors; and Suhas Misra, Chief Executive Officer at Misters and former COO at Paperboat India.
The competition will have two rounds – The first is Capitalise where the teams will have to make an elevator pitch in 100 words and showcase a business plan that must include a clear problem statement, the target audience, overview of the idea, perceived challenges, investment ask and project timeframe.
The second round is called Refine where ten shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to attend masterclasses on innovation and entrepreneurship by the BITSoM faculty and refine their proposals. They will then have to make a 10-minute presentation followed by a Q&A with the panel of judges. The teams will be evaluated based on the problem they are trying to solve, the value proposition, the market opportunity, operational feasibility, revenue model and viability, and the social and environmental impact.
