Smartphone brand, vivo India, on April 28 announced the fourth edition of its flagship education programme vivo Ignite: Technology and Innovation Initiative, which encourages students to transform their ideas into meaningful solutions and address real-world challenges important to India’s future.

In this year’s edition, students will have the opportunity to submit individual or group entries (with a maximum of three members per group) in the Prototype category under diverse themes, including Community Development Innovations; Soft-Tech Innovations, Technology, Agriculture & Climate Change and other category where technology is used, with overarching alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The competition will be conducted in seven stages, with the National Finale taking place on October 11th in New Delhi where the Top 10 prototypes will be presented by 10 finalist individual/group and felicitated by eminent Jury and stand a chance to secure educational scholarships and rewards with total pool size of INR 40 Lakhs2.

Over its past three editions, vivo Ignite has seen strong and growing participation from across the country. The third edition alone received over 37,000 registrations from 9,000+ schools across 660+ districts – double the participation of the year before, reinforcing the programme’s expanding national footprint and relevance among students and educators.

Building on this momentum, vivo India will be scaling its endeavour to reach more students for the fourth edition. This year’s programme also introduces three new key additions:

  • Special Weightage to Aspirational Districts1: vivo Ignite is extending dedicated focus to students from government schools and aspirational districts1, ensuring that participation is not restricted by region, school type or background.
  • The Achiever 30:a new stage cohort between the Top 200 and Top 10, who will receive mentorship from domain experts and then virtually present their ideas/prototypes to eminent expert panel.
  • Teacher Innovation Grant:The programme acknowledges the support of Teacher as important pillars to promote STEM education. Teachers who have promoted STEM education in their school or teachers whose students have secured space among Top 10 finalists will receive an INR 50,000 Innovation Grant to acknowledge their contribution for STEM Education, Innovation and technology in their classrooms.

Speaking on the launch, Geetaj Channana, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, vivo India, said, “Year on year as we keeping building vivo Ignite, we are amazed to see the potential young changemakers bring when it comes to technology. Their approach and commitment keep vivo Ignite going – along with our commitment to create avenues that give shape to new solutions for a better tomorrow.
