Aimed at providing school Principals, Counselors, and Wellness Teachers with strategies to identify and address mental health concerns among students, CBSE organized a workshop on “Promoting Student Mental Health and Well-Being,” at Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10, Dwarka (Delhi) on Feb 12.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Manisha Sharma, Principal, VIS and was followed by a keynote address by Neeti Shankar Sharma, Deputy Secretary of Media and Public Relations, CBSE. In her address, Ms. Sharma explained the vital function of educational institutions in promoting mental well-being among students and the need for collective effort to develop a nurturing atmosphere.

The workshop featured prominent speakers such as Dr. Aparna Goyal, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at IHBAS in New Delhi,  Dr. Shipra Singh, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at IHBAS, New Delhi and Dr. Shahzadi, an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at IHBAS, New Delhi. They emphasized the need to prioritize the mental and emotional well-being of students in schools and delved into creating awareness and developing the necessary skills to address mental health issues in the educational environment.

Dr. Manisha Sharma, commenting on the theme of the workshop said:  “Emotional and psychological challenges are an inevitable part of growing years. As educators, it is our responsibility to provide students with immediate and compassionate support to help them tackle the distressing situation and assist them in all facets of their growth. Therefore, in the process of fostering stability and encouraging timely recovery, mental wellness and health emerge as crucial factors for the comprehensive development of students.”
