Vikaasa World School, a leading school in Madurai and a member of Global School Foundation, recently hosted its first annual quiz event, called the VIZKWIZ – Best Brains Battle. Over 750 students from 30+ schools in and around Madurai; competing in two categories – junior and senior participated in the event.

Vallaba Vidhyalaya team won the trophy in senior category whereas Pushpalatha Vidhya Mandhir, Tirunelveli emerged as the winners in the junior category.

Held at Vikaasa World School campus, the quiz event created a lot of excitement and enthusiasm as team after team stormed in to try fortunes and knowledge. The quiz competition was divided into two categories: Junior and Senior. The junior category was for students from class 7 to 9, while the senior category was for students from class 10 to 12. The questions were designed to test the student’s knowledge across a wide range of subjects, including science, history, geography, literature, and current affairs. The famed microbiologist-quiz master Berty Ashley took to the stage as the quiz master and added to the charged buzz.

The competition was intense, with each team trying their best to answer the questions correctly. The audience cheered as the teams battled it out on stage. There were several nail-biting moments as teams tried to answer tricky questions, and the enthusiasm in the auditorium was palpable. The quiz rounds were scheduled based on the categories; the first round of junior’s followed by second round of senior’s prelims. After several rounds of intense quizzing, the final teams were selected.

The winning teams were awarded prizes, trophies, and certificates of merit by the chief guests Dr. M. Saravanan MBBS and Mrs. Kavitha Saravanan MCA of RIO Children’s Hospitals Madurai. The runners-up, third-placed teams and the finalists were also given certificates of merit and prizes.

N.P.Murali, principal, Vikaasa Schools was happy with the success of the event, “We are delighted to host VIZKWIZ and to have our alumnus, Mr. Berty Ashley as our quiz master. We are also proud of all the participants who put in a lot of effort to prepare for the competition. We hope to make VIZKWIZ an annual event and continue to provide a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and skills.”

The event was a celebration of learning and a reminder of the importance of healthy competition in education and has set a high standard. Speaking about the event, Head Mistress of Vikaasa World School and the chief organizer of VIZKWIZ 2023 Mrs. Vinola Thomas, Head Mistress, Vikaasa World School, added, “I feel immense joy after witnessing so many students from different schools under one roof. The students showed great enthusiasm and knowledge, and it was heartening to see so many young minds engaged in learning. The event not only challenged participants’ knowledge but also created an unforgettable experience that will be cherished for years to come. I thank our organizers, teachers, admin staff and everyone involved for their immense support.”
