Brigadier Rajiv Williams YSM (Retd) has launched “Valor and Values: Aligning Military Experiences to CSR,” a book published by Pentagon Press that examines how military social duties have evolved beyond traditional ‘aid to civil authorities’, creating new pathways for collaboration between Army Social Responsibility (ASR) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Through real-world examples and personal experiences in the army across various conflict zones and peace-time locations, the book masterfully juxtaposes the principles of ASR with the evolving landscape of CSR. It illustrates how military values and operational approaches can enhance corporate social initiatives. Williams shares insights from the 1971 India-Pakistan war and his role in ‘Operation Sadbhavana in Ladakh’, one of the world’s coldest inhabited regions.
