Taking the spirit of Diwali beyond school campuses and into neighbouring communities, The Ardee Schools organised the Ardee Langar Seva – Diwali Community Initiative across its four campuses in New Friends Colony (NFC), Goa, Munirka and Noida on Nov 6.

The initiative brought together hundreds of students, mentors and members of the Senior Leadership Team, with students taking an active role in planning and executing the community outreach programme. Through this collective effort, the initiative reached over 5,000 members of neighbouring communities, extending the message of compassion, equality and the joy of giving beyond the school environment.

A key aspect of the initiative was the active involvement of students in the spirit of seva (selfless service). Fresh meals were prepared in the in-house kitchens at each campus and served by the respective Student Councils. This hands-on participation offered students an opportunity to understand the values of humility, empathy, dignity and collective responsibility through meaningful action.

The initiative also celebrated the spirit of multi-faith harmony and inclusivity, bringing people together beyond religious and cultural differences. By extending the spirit of seva to individuals from diverse faiths and backgrounds, the programme reinforced the values of mutual respect, equality, compassion and shared humanity.

The initiative also brought together different members of the school community, reinforcing the idea that meaningful social change begins with collective participation and a willingness to serve others.

Speaking about the initiative, Shefali Varma, Chairperson, The Ardee Schools, said:

“Education must go beyond academic excellence and prepare children to become compassionate, responsible and empathetic individuals. Through Ardee Langar Seva, we wanted our students to experience the true meaning of giving, not just as an idea but through their own actions. When children come together to prepare and serve food, they learn the values of equality, humility and respect for every individual. At The Ardee Schools, we believe that social responsibility should be an integral part of growing up, and initiatives like these translate our values into meaningful action.”

As Diwali celebrates the triumph of light, Ardee Langar Seva serves as a reminder that the festival’s spirit is equally reflected in acts of kindness, generosity, multi-faith harmony and bringing happiness into the lives of others.
