Korean Cultural Centre India will conduct TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) twice a year seeing the tremendous rise in demand of learning Korean Language. This year 81st TOPIK will be conducted on 10th April, 2022 nationwide and will have test centers each in New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jharkhand, and Manipur. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing guidelines in India, each center will have limited number of seats.
Mr. Hwang Il-Yong, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, said, “It can be seen from Duolingo’s 2021 worldwide statistics that Korean is the seventh most popular foreign language out of a total of 19 foreign languages provided by Duolingo. Korean has also been named the fastest growing language in India by Duolingo. Therefore, in 2022, we are planning to conduct TOPIK twice: Once in April (81st TOPIK) and another in July (83rd TOPIK).”
The demand of learning Korean Language is increasing very rapidly due to the rise of the Hallyu wave nationwide. It was seen this time too when the TOPIK online applications were filled instantly. Centre had not conducted TOPIK for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jawaharlal Nehru University – New Delhi, Hyundai R&D Center – Hyderabad, Telangana, InKo Center – Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Manipur University – Imphal, Manipur and Central University of Jharkhand – Ranchi, Jharkhand will be the test centers for conducting 81st TOPIK this year.
