At TEDxTheKnowledgeHabitatPuneYouth 2026, hosted by The Knowledge Habitat Pune at the school’s own Arena last week, more than 100 parents, students, dignitaries, guests and community members joined educators, innovators, entrepreneurs and changemakers to explore the theme, “Oops! We Changed the World”. United by curiosity, enthusiasm for learning and the belief that even the smallest ideas can spark meaningful change, they came together to celebrate the power of unexpected ideas.

More than a conference, the event was a celebration of possibility. It challenged the common assumption that change happens only through grand plans and extraordinary individuals. Instead, every talk, performance and interaction reinforced a powerful truth: sometimes, the most meaningful transformations begin with an unexpected “oops”.

The speaker lineup reflected the diverse pathways through which change can take shape. Rinita Laskar, in her talk, “It Took a Village”, shared a deeply personal story of single-parent adoption, illustrating how courage, love and unconventional choices can transform not just one life, but an entire community. Her message highlighted how a single compassionate decision can create a ripple effect far beyond its original intent.

Rahul Bakare, through “The Water Beneath Our Feet”, explored how purpose-driven innovation can address one of the world’s most pressing yet often overlooked challenges: groundwater sustainability. His talk encouraged students to discover their Ikigai and apply their skills to real-world problems that can create lasting impact.

Bala Nadar challenged conventional thinking through “The Power of AND”, highlighting how success is often not about choosing one path over another, but about finding ways to pursue both purpose and practicality.

Avani Awasthee drew attention to sustainable living, reminding the audience that meaningful change is rarely dramatic. Rather, it is built through small, consistent choices that accumulate over time. Her message, “Think progress, not perfection”, resonated deeply with the audience.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the event was the participation of four student speakers, who demonstrated that age does not determine the value of an idea.

Kaivalya Deo (Grade IV) presented “Turning Pages, Changing Worlds”, exploring how curiosity, reading, rational thinking and the courage to question accepted norms have driven human progress. His message encouraged the audience to see knowledge as the foundation of meaningful change.

Dhruv Sreenivasan (Grade IX) delivered “The Chrysalis on My Mat”, a compelling reflection on resilience. Drawing lessons from setbacks and challenges, he demonstrated how difficult experiences can become catalysts for growth and positive action.

Sohaanya Sadashiv (Grade XI) shared “The Butterfly Effect of Joy”, a heartfelt reminder that life’s defining moments are not always born from hardship. Sometimes, unexpected joy, meaningful connections and small moments of happiness shape us in equally profound ways.

Vihaan Garg (Grade VII) inspired the audience with “Little Actions, Limitless Possibilities”, demonstrating how a single thoughtful action can trigger a chain reaction of positive outcomes. His talk captured the spirit of the event, showing how every “oops” can become a “wow”.

Together, these student speakers represented curiosity, resilience, optimism and action, reinforcing the essential role young voices have to play in shaping the future.

TEDxTheKnowledgeHabitatPuneYouth reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and leadership through authentic experiences. Students were not merely attendees. They were organisers, ambassadors, performers, hosts, creators and speakers. They collaborated across grades, engaged with accomplished professionals and experienced firsthand how ideas can be translated into action.

The conversations continued beyond the stage during networking sessions and shared meals, where speakers, students, parents, educators and guests exchanged perspectives, stories and possibilities.

Because Change Rarely Arrives as Planned

Perhaps the most enduring takeaway from TEDxTheKnowledgeHabitatPuneYouth 2026 was the simplest: change rarely announces itself. It often begins with a mistake, a question, an unexpected opportunity or a small act of courage.

The event reminded everyone present that the future is shaped not only by those who already have answers, but also by those willing to ask better questions, challenge familiar thinking and act on ideas that others may overlook.

Because sometimes the world changes exactly as planned. And sometimes, it changes because someone dared to say, “Oops!” and kept going.
