The Embassy of Sweden in India organised the New Delhi leg of the two-city Study in Sweden 2026 Fair on October 28, attracting more than 300 student registrations and highlighting continued interest among Indian students in Swedish higher education.

The day-long fair featured presentations on studying in Sweden, guidance on migration and residence-related procedures, and an interactive alumni session. It provided prospective students with an opportunity to explore Master’s programmes, research opportunities and future academic pathways at Swedish universities.

Participating institutions included some of Sweden’s leading universities, including Lund University. With approximately 1,000 Master’s programmes taught in English available across the country, Sweden offers Indian students a wide range of options in engineering, science, medicine, economics, social sciences and sustainability.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden’s largest institution for technical education and research, engaged with students interested in engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, energy, biotechnology and sustainable technologies. Linköping University highlighted its interdisciplinary approach, showcasing opportunities across engineering, AI, materials science, medicine, business and social sciences, with an emphasis on innovation and practical learning.

The fair also featured Jönköping University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and the University of Borås, broadening the range of academic programmes and research opportunities presented to prospective students.

Opening the event, Petra Menander, Ambassador of Sweden to India, welcomed the strong response from students.

“It was encouraging to see so many students come with clear questions about their studies, research interests and future careers. The value of a fair like this is the opportunity to have direct conversations with universities and alumni and understand what studying in Sweden can actually offer. I hope these exchanges will lead to more Indian students becoming part of Sweden’s academic and research community and, in turn, strengthen the connections between our two countries,” Ambassador Menander said.

The fair brought prospective students face-to-face with university representatives, enabling them to seek first-hand guidance on academic programmes, admission requirements, research opportunities, residence permits, student life and career prospects.

An interactive session featuring alumni Mayank Swelia from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Shamnath Thajudeen from Jönköping University added a practical dimension to the discussions. Their experiences offered prospective students insights into academic life, studying in an international environment and adapting to life in Sweden.

Following the New Delhi edition, the Study in Sweden 2026 Fair is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on October 30, providing students in the city with an opportunity to interact with Swedish university representatives and explore higher education opportunities in Sweden.
