St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, has officially opened applications for its January 2026 intake, offering aspiring medical students from India the opportunity to pursue an international medical education.
The January start date gives students an alternative pathway into medical training with several distinct advantages. It allows them to begin studies earlier without waiting for the traditional fall cycle and provides smaller cohorts that may encourage closer interaction with faculty and peers, creating an intimate learning environment. Students entering in January also benefit from alignment with the global academic calendar, offering additional preparation time for key milestones such as residency applications and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
SGU offers multiple program/tracks to suit students’ educational backgrounds, including the four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program and five-, six-, or seven-year MD tracks. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in various countries, subject to local requirements, and gain clinical experience through a wide network of more than 75 affiliated sites in the US and UK. Financial aid and scholarships, such as academic merit-based and community-focused awards, are available for qualified international applicants, supporting students from diverse backgrounds in pursuing their education.
