SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) on January 6 organised a world record attempt to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.” The initiative was carried out in alignment with the vision of the Prime Minister of India and under the guidance of the Founder Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar.
As part of the attempt, 3,032 participants, comprising students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff, came together to form the Largest Human Formation Depicting “VANDE MATARAM.” Participants were dressed in tricolour shades, symbolising unity and national identity. The World Record Union representatives are likely to visit during the felicitation event later this month for recording the feat, officially.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST said, “This world record attempt reflects the collective effort of the SRMIST community. By coming together for this formation, we have marked a moment that reflects discipline, participation, and shared responsibility in commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram.”
Dr. Karu Nagarasan, Head, Tamil Perayam, SRMIST, stated, “Vande Mataram is deeply rooted in India’s cultural and linguistic heritage. Through this attempt, we honour its 150-year legacy and express it through collective human participation.”
The initiative reflects SRMIST’s emphasis on collective engagement and national awareness while commemorating a significant milestone in the legacy of Vande Mataram.
