Sharda University’s Convocation Ceremony confers degrees on 4108 Students

Sharda University based in Greater Noida conducted its 9th convocation ceremony at the Knowledge Park campus on Oct 13 with a total of 4,108 students being awarded degrees, including 2,703 undergraduate degrees, 1,261 postgraduate degrees, and 144 Ph.D. degrees.
In recognition of outstanding academic performance, six students received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, 40 students were awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal for postgraduate studies, 52 students for undergraduate studies, 42 students received Merit Certificates for postgraduate courses, and 92 students received Merit Certificates for undergraduate courses.

The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries as chief and special guests, including Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Dr. Shiv K. Sarin, Director, ILBS, and Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, President, INSA. Sharda University Chancellor Mr. P.K. Gupta and Pro-Chancellor Mr. Y.K. Gupta welcomed the guests with ceremonial shawls and mementos. Additionally, all three guests were honored with honorary degrees for their distinguished contributions.

In his address, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood highlighted the importance of student contributions in realizing the vision of a developed India. He emphasized that innovation in science, education, and the ecosystem is crucial for national growth, and that the advancement of sustainable technological progress relies on the continuous generation of scientific knowledge. Prof. Sood also noted that innovations should ideally reach the public through recognized channels.

Dr. Shiv K. Sarin spoke about various aspects of liver diseases, explaining that many health conditions, such as diabetes, often originate from fatty liver. He advised maintaining a healthy weight as a preventive measure.

During his convocation address, Chancellor P.K. Gupta stressed the importance of staying updated with rapid changes in both technology and education. He encouraged students to embrace new ideas, pursue continuous learning, and explore diverse fields to enhance their knowledge. Highlighting the broader purpose of education, he said that a degree is not just a qualification but a means for holistic development. Graduates should contribute to the nation, leverage higher education and emerging technologies, and apply their learning for the greater good. He emphasized that Sharda University is committed to education as a mission, aiming to provide knowledge and learning rather than just degrees.

The convocation witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, with male students dressed in traditional kurta-pajama and female students in salwar suits and sarees. Several international students also opted for traditional Indian attire to receive their degrees. The ceremony was attended by distinguished faculty and administrators, including Pro-Chancellor Y.K. Gupta, Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, Dr. Farukh Faraz, Department of Periodontics, Maulana Azad Dental College, Delhi, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sibararam Khara, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parmanand, Dean Academic Dr. R.C. Singh, Registrar Vivek Kumar Gupta, Director PR Dr. Ajit Kumar, along with various department HODs and faculty members.
