Chennai-based Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) in association with OATN (Optometric Association of Tamil Nanbargal) organised a two-day national conference on optometry on Aug31-Sep 1. Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai inaugurated the event. More than 1300 delegates from across the nation participated in this conference.
OPTINT 2024 aims to bring together optometrists, optometry educators, optometry students, researchers, industry professionals, and stakeholders from across the region to discuss the latest advancements, share insights, and foster collaborations in the field of optometry. The selected speakers are stalwarts in their chosen area in Optometry from across India and globally.
During the event Dr. K. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University said, we are witnessing the rapid advancements in the technology like artificial intelligence, machine learning, tele-optometry and the cutting edge diagnostic tools revolutionise how we approach the vision care. Along with these advancements, we should follow ethical standards, patient centric care and commitment to lifelong learning. He also felicitated the eminent optometrists with more than 40 years of experience.
Scientific sessions by eminent practitioners, researchers and academicians keynote lectures on Compassionomics, and about Centenary Year of Optometry Panel discussions on Career opportunities after optometry; and Telemarketing and social media for practice growth highly relevant for students and practitioners 6 Workshops (on Scleral lens fitting, Binocular vision & vision therapy, Low vision practice, Dispensing, Myopia management, Imaging and diagnostics) Scientific paper & poster presentation by optometry students and optometrists. Clinical photography, videography and quiz competitions were part of the event.
