NIIT University (NU) has launched its AI Centre of Excellence, an extension of NIIT University’s focus on AI led education, inter-disciplinary learning and industry-academia collaboration. A dedicated facility that brings enterprise-grade GPU computing and industry-standard AI tools directly to campus, the Centre gives students hands-on experience in training, fine-tuning and deploying AI models in a secure, high-performance environment built on NVIDIA technologies.
The new laboratory is intended to be a high-performance computing hub for Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Edge AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and data-intensive research and is outfitted with three YodaEdge devices capable of supporting up to 30 concurrent users. This scalable and collaborative environment allows students, faculty and researchers to experiment with modern AI frameworks, development tools and enterprise-grade deployment methodologies
The facility will support a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary applications, including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Intelligent IoT Systems, Predictive Analytics, and Smart Healthcare solutions. Beyond regular coursework and research, the laboratory is also envisioned as a venue for faculty development programmes, technical workshops, hackathons, industry interaction programmes, and startup incubation activities.
As India accelerates enterprise AI adoption across industries, the demand for skilled AI professionals continues to outpace supply. According to NASSCOM, India’s AI talent pool is expected to grow from 600,000–650,000 professionals in 2024 to more than 1.25 million by 2027, reflecting the growing need for graduates with hands-on experience in enterprise AI infrastructure and GPU-powered computing. Through its AI Centre of Excellence, NIIT University aims to bridge this skills gap by providing students, faculty, and research scholars with access to practical, industry-ready AI infrastructure and hands-on learning opportunities.
