The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021 has been postponed for at least four months and it will not be held before August 31, 2021, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has said. The students will also be given at least one month of time to prepare for it.

The postponement of the medical entrance exam for postgraduate courses is among a slew of measures approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boost the availability of medical personnel in the country to fight against the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The services of Final Year MBBS students  will be utilized for providing services like teleconsultation and monitoring of mild COVID cases after due orientation by and under supervision of faculty. The PMO also asked the State/UT Governments to make all efforts to reach out to each such prospective NEET candidates and requested them to join the COVID-19 workforce in this hour of need. The services of these MBBS doctors can be utilized in the management of COVID-19. The medical personnel completing 100 days of COVID duty will be given Prime Minister’s COVID National Service Samman. They will be given priority in the government recruitment.

When the exam was postponed on 18th April,2021, aspirants were not given the exact date of exam due to that also they were worried. But now as they are aware that the exam will be held after 4 months they are under relief.

Conducted by NBE, NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation) is the national level exam for admission to various MD (Doctor of Medicine)/MS (Master in Surgery) and PG Diploma courses across the country. NEET PG is a highly competitive exam.

Commenting on the same Gaurav Tyagi, Founder- Career Xpert said, “The decision to delay exams for 4 months taken now is in the favor of aspirants. I appreciate the decision taken by the concerned authorities. And, my advice to all the aspirants is that they should stay focused and concentrate on their studies and also try to serve the country during this devastating situation. This is the best opportunity given to them.”
