Nayanta University, a university under the Maharashtra State Private University Act, will commence classes in August 2025. The university is supported by prominent industrialists, including Naushad Forbes, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Nadir Godrej, Meher Pudumjee, and Satish Reddy.
Located on a picturesque 6-acre campus in Bavdhan, Pune, Nayanta will offer a fully residential undergraduate program that promises a transformative educational experience. During the launch event, Kris Gopalakrishnan highlighted the importance of value-based institutions and the significant role of founders in cultivating a strong institutional culture.
Naushad Forbes stressed the pressing need for higher-quality educational institutions in India. He expressed confidence in Nayanta’s commitment to a need-blind, merit-based admission process and underscored the university’s intention to reflect India’s economic and geographic diversity.
Nayanta University has partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industries, ensuring a highly differentiated education framework that combines theory with practice and deep technical and cultural literacy.
Dr Ranjan Banerjee outlined the foundational principles of Nayanta’s student experience, focusing on two key areas: personal care and career development. Each student will go through a personal development program to enhance self-awareness, and the university will build a culture where faculty and institute leadership invest time with students in small groups and one-on-one interactions outside the classroom. Furthermore, all students, regardless of their specialisation, will engage in internships, including both a five-month and a one-term-long internship. Three one-month internships will offer students a chance to experience the corporate, social and government sectors before undergoing a five-month internship in the sector of choice.
In a bid to accommodate individual interests, Nayanta will offer a diverse range of courses, allowing students to declare their preferences after completing an 18-month multidisciplinary foundation program. Admissions for the inaugural program will open in February 2025 and the first batch will begin classes in August 2025.
