JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) launched its inaugural ‘My City, My Lab’ Ideathon, a competition designed to unlock the innovative potential of young minds across the nation. This groundbreaking event challenges high school students from classes 10 to 12 to develop sustainable solutions for urban challenges, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
‘My City, My Lab’ encourages students to critically and creatively engage with their local environments to devise actionable solutions that could transform their cities into sustainable and resilient communities. The competition addresses key issues such as pollution control, green infrastructure, smart transportation, and efficient resource management, aiming to cultivate a new generation of civic leaders and problem solvers.
Awards and Benefits:
- Trophies and Cash Prizes:Winning teams will receive trophies and cash prizes totalling over 25 lakhs.
- National Recognition:Top projects will be compiled into a report and presented to the Prime Minister’s Office, showcasing the innovative potential of India’s youth.
- Scholarships:JKLU will offer scholarships to selected participants for pursuing undergraduate programs of their choice at the university.
- Mentorship Opportunities:Participants will receive expert guidance and mentorship from distinguished scholars and leading industry professionals.
To participate in the competition, interested teams should first register at ideathon.jklu.edu.in and submit their initial proposals, which should identify a local problem and its related Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), by October 15, 2024. Teams that are shortlisted will then be required to attend mandatory training sessions and submit a detailed proposal by November 17, 2024. The competition will culminate on November 30, 2024, at JKLU, where finalists will present their solutions. The winners of the competition will be announced the following day, December 1, 2024.
