WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition (WSC2022SE) which is the official replacement for WorldSkills Shanghai 2022, cancelled in May due to the pandemic, is being held in 15 different countries and regions around the world from 7 September and ending 26 November 2022. India is among 58 countries participating in these 61 skill competitions.

From beginning to November 1, Indian contingent has so far won two silver and three bronze medals. Praveen Kumar Giri, a student of Mechanical Engineering was studying at C.V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha has won the Silver Medal in Water Technology, at the Worldskills Competition 2022 held in Stuttgart, Germany. Nandita Saxena, studying at IHM Aurangabad, won silver medal in Patisserie and Confectionary Skill and also became first Indian female competitor to do so.

Bronze Medal winners are— Likitha Kumar YP in Prototype Modelling, Karthik Gowda and
Akhilesh Narasimhamurthy in Mechatronics, and Anushree Srinivasan in Hotel Reception
.

In addition, Indian competitors have also won 13 Medallion for Excellence in various skills.

A strong 58-member Indian contingent is competing in WSC2022, the biggest skills competition in the world. The competitors from India are showcasing their skills in 52 trades that includes Water Technology, Patisserie and Confectionary, Hotel Reception, Prototype Modelling, Mechatronics, Graphic Design Technology, Bakery, Jewellery, Web Technologies, Health & Social Care, Mobile Robotics, Restaurant Services, Information Network Cabling, Autobody Repair, Automobile Technology, 3d Digital Game Art, Fashion Technology and Hair Dressing in the ongoing WorldSkills Competition 2022 (WSC2022).

Team India is also competing in six new-age skills, including Industry 4.0, Robot System Integration, Additive Manufacturing, and Renewable Energy. This year, women students comprise 19% of the team, while 12% of the competitors are from various Industrial Training Institutes. All Indian competitors have also undergone training in industries and academia like Toyota, Maruti, NIFT, Mahindra etc. Preparing the students for WorldSkills starts much before the competition commences.
