IIT Ropar, NSDC, and Masai School have signed a tripartite MoU for introducing a joint certified minor program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) of one-year duration with 15 program credits under AI for Bharat initiative. The students will attend online lectures and will be evaluated by IIT Ropar professors. The course is open to 10+2 and above and costs Rs 62,000.

The highlight of the program is campus immersion for hands-on IIT experience, official email ID/ID card and course being offered in multiple languages. The specialization options include Mechanics, tinyML, Robotics, IoT and General applications of AI. Credits earned will be deposited in student’s ABC and shall be transferable in a degree program as per NEP, NCrF, NCVET and UGC approved guidelines.

The course includes 7 modules: Fundamentals of Prompt Engineering, Introduction to Machine Learning, Data Handling & Processing, Neural Networks & Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Functioning of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Capstone Project.

Rajeev Ahuja Director – IIT Ropar said, “AI and ML are domains of future progress and will find application everywhere, so the need of professionals in this is going to be huge. With great anticipation, we embark on this journey to push boundaries and revolutionise technological education. IIT Ropar with its young professors is going to carve a benchmark and become part of this important national mission.”

It may be mentioned that credit-linked Micro-Specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is in-demand tech job in India.

Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary – MSDE said, “AI is not just a technological advancement; it’s a transformative force that is reshaping industries, driving innovation, and creating new economic opportunities for our youth. By embracing AI education, we are preparing our workforce to meet future challenges and ensuring our nation’s competitive edge in the global arena. I am happy to witness such partnerships as this one between IIT Ropar, and Masai and wish them the very best.”

Building on their collaboration with IIT Guwahati and IIT Mandi, Masai school has garnered widespread acclaim, and expertise in delivery of tech courses. Prateek Shukla, Co-Founder, and CEO of Masai School, said, “This collaboration stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to reshaping the landscape of technical education. It mirrors our ongoing efforts to revolutionise technical education, building upon successful partnerships with esteemed institutions like IIT Mandi.”

During the signing of MoU ceremony on May 17, IIT Ropar faculty who would be administering this AI minor program provided a batch of students gathered for the event a glimpse of the interesting lectures that will be streamed for easy understanding and arousing learning curiosity to make skilling successful under this one-year program.
