Two prominent public universities in Rajasthan, IIT Jodhpur and MNIT Jaipur, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alliance Française Jaipur to promote French language education and cultural exchange within the academic community. The Alliance Française Jaipur is known for hosting a myriad of events, including exhibitions, seminars, online and offline meetings with eminent French personalities, concerts, French cinema showings, French theatre performances, literary readings, etc.

Key Collaborative Initiatives:

Optional French Courses: IIT Jodhpur and MNIT Jaipur will offer optional French courses within their campuses. These courses are open to students, faculty members, and their families, providing an opportunity for the entire academic community to embark on a linguistic and cultural journey.

Certificate Beginners Course: The French language program will be offered as a certificate beginners course, allowing participants to gain foundational language skills.

Credit-Awarding Programs: Ongoing discussions are in progress to include the French courses as credit-awarding programs within both institutions. This strategic move enhances the academic value of learning French for students.

Inaugurating this Initiative, Prof Rakesh Jain, Dean International Affairs, MNIT Jaipur, said: “We proudly announce the commencement of the French language program to students, staff, faculty, and others from MNIT Fraternity at our institution MNIT Jaipur in collaboration with ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE JAIPUR. We believe that learning a new language is not just about acquiring words; it’s about embracing a culture, broadening horizons, and fostering global connections”

Prof Surajit Ghosh, Dean (International Relations, Alumni Relations & Corporate Relations), IIT Jodhpur, on his institute’s partnership remarked: “I am delighted to announce that, with the shared objective of fostering collaboration and advancing the French language, Alliance Française de Jaipur (AF Jaipur) has initiated a partnership with the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur). This collaboration is designed to provide French language classes to students not having French in their curriculum, as well as to the staff, faculty, and other members of the IITJ Fraternity. Through this association, IIT Jodhpur becomes a privileged partner in the “Extra-mural French classes programme,” expanding the reach beyond the confines of the AF Jaipur office. AF Jaipur is committed to offering comprehensive support to IIT Jodhpur in conducting French language classes, emphasizing that the core objective of this partnership is the promotion and enrichment of the French language, without any financial benefits accruing to IIT Jodhpur”

This strategic collaboration marks a significant step towards fostering linguistic diversity, cultural enrichment, and academic collaboration in the educational landscape of Rajasthan. The signing of the MOU symbolizes a commitment to nurturing global connections through the medium of language and culture and will certainly enhance Indian students’ mobility to France.
