Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited on March 10 inaugurated the Hyundai Center for Education Excellence set up by it at the Government Higher Secondary School, Thandalam, in Kancheepuram district. The new academic block was inaugurated by Thiru. T.M. Spread across 15,750 sq. ft., the centre houses 16 well designed classrooms and two fully equipped science laboratories aimed at enhancing experiential learning. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to significantly improve classroom engagement, enable practical science education, and provide a safe and dignified learning environment for students.

Nearly 1,000 students annually will benefit from enhanced access to quality learning spaces designed to nurture curiosity, scientific temper, and aspiration for higher education.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Gopalakrishnan C.S., Trustee, HMIF, said: “Education is the cornerstone of progress, and we are proud to help shape brighter futures for the children of Thandalam and surrounding villages. This new facility reflects Hyundai’s commitment to inclusive and community‑centric growth, ensuring equal opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. We believe that empowering young minds today will build stronger, more resilient communities tomorrow. With every such initiative, Hyundai reaffirms its dedication to fostering a more equitable, progressive and sustainable society.”

A Commitment Rooted in Community and Sustainability

The project was undertaken following requests from the Thandalam Village Panchayat and the School Management Committee, reinforcing HMIF’s belief in collaborative, need‑based community development.  By investing in educational infrastructure in rural Tamil Nadu, HMIF continues to nurture long‑term, inclusive development and contribute to creating learning environments where every child has an opportunity to thrive.
