Himaneesh Sompalle, a grade 10 student at Stonehill International School, Bangalore, has won the Bronze Medal at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, held in Beijing recently and thereby became the youngest Olympian and the youngest medallist from India in the history of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, at just 14 years of age.
The big win is a recognition of technological innovation among students worldwide, and was presented to Himaneesh for his exceptional talent in Artificial Intelligence. Competing against participants from over 60+ countries, Himaneesh stood out for his creative abilities and critical thinking.
Himaneesh earned his place on Team India after clearing a highly competitive four-stage tough selection process conducted across India. The final round was a rigorous 10-day physical camp (Lectures and Evaluations) held at IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology) Hyderabad, where participants were tested on:
- Advanced undergraduate-level Mathematics, Computer Science, and Algorithms
- 6-hour-long evaluations and programming assessments
- Lectures and evaluations from Industry Leading Experts in Artificial Intelligence from Microsoft, Adobe, Amazon, IBM, and Senior Professors from IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Hyderabad
