Gujarat Science City, functioning under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, organised a unique STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Treasure Hunt as part of the Micron Starlight Festival 2026 on Oct 9. Presented as India’s first treasure hunt of its kind, the initiative brought together students from government schools and Micron volunteers for an immersive learning experience combining science, technology, teamwork and adventure. The programme aimed to foster scientific curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among young learners.
For the first time in the history of Gujarat Science City, the entire Science City campus was transformed into an exciting scientific treasure hunt arena, where students and Micron volunteers worked together in teams to navigate challenges, solve scientific puzzles and discover hidden treasures. The activity offered students a unique opportunity to experience science beyond textbooks through exploration, experimentation and collaborative learning.
A major highlight of the treasure hunt was the introduction of specially designed DIY (Do It Yourself) kits, featuring interactive challenges and puzzles based on STEM and AI concepts. Students were required to solve these challenges with the guidance and support of Micron volunteers to progress through different stages of the treasure hunt. Each challenge encouraged participants to apply scientific principles, think logically, collaborate effectively and develop innovative solutions.
The programme began with participant registration, team allocation and an introductory session highlighting the significance of STEM and AI in everyday life. Following the treasure hunt orientation, teams embarked on their scientific adventure across the Science City campus, completing a series of interactive tasks and hands-on activities. Micron volunteers actively engaged with the students, guiding them through challenges and encouraging them to explore scientific concepts through practical applications. The programme also provided an opportunity for students to share their experiences and learning outcomes.
The first-of-its-kind STEM and AI Treasure Hunt marked a significant initiative in promoting experiential and activity-based science education. By transforming the Science City campus into an interactive learning environment, the programme demonstrated how scientific concepts can be made accessible, engaging and enjoyable through innovative educational approaches.
The collaboration between Gujarat Science City and Micron also highlighted the importance of industry participation in strengthening STEM education and nurturing scientific aptitude among students. By bringing industry volunteers and young learners together, the initiative encouraged knowledge sharing, mentorship, teamwork and exposure to emerging technologies.
Through such initiatives, Gujarat Science City continues to advance its mission of “Connecting Community with Science”, inspiring students and young minds to embrace scientific thinking, innovation and technological exploration while preparing them for a future driven by science and technology.
