Garuda Aerospace, India’s leading drone manufacturer, welcomed officers from the College of Defence Management (CDM), Hyderabad, to its newly inaugurated manufacturing facility in Chennai, underscoring the company’s deepening engagement with India’s defence ecosystem. The visit followed the facility’s launch by Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State for Defence, earlier this month.
This marks the second time CDM officers have toured Garuda’s facilities, reflecting the growing integration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into modern defence operations. During the visit, officers explored key sections, including the Drone Assembly and Quality Assurance Zone, R&D and Simulation Labs, and the RPTO Training Facility, gaining insights into drone manufacturing, testing, and pilot training processes.
Garuda showcased an extensive range of UAVs tailored for defence and tactical applications. Highlights included the G500 for reconnaissance missions, Swarm Drones for coordinated multi-unit operations, Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) for terrain-based deployments, and the Droni Drone – inspired by MS Dhoni – designed for advanced surveillance. Other systems included Canister Dropping Drones, Delivery Drones for precision logistics, and Solar Panel Cleaning Drones for critical infrastructure upkeep.
“This initiative bridges a crucial gap between defence management education and real-world drone applications. We aim to equip India’s future defence leaders with hands-on exposure to UAV technology that aligns with the nation’s evolving security needs,” said Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO, Garuda Aerospace.
Officers engaged in interactive sessions exploring industry-driven innovations, potential defence applications, and pathways for collaborative research.
