FPSB India, the Indian subsidiary of Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) to promote financial planning education, strengthen professional standards, and support talent development across India’s Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

The MoU was signed by Ramesh Vishwanathan, CEO, FPSB India, and Rishi Dhariwal, CEO, BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) at the BFSI SSC office in Mumbai. The signing ceremony was attended by senior leadership from both organisations,

During the meeting, the leadership teams exchanged views on the growing importance of financial planning in India’s evolving economic landscape and the need to build greater awareness around career opportunities within the profession. Discussions also focused on entrepreneurship, continuous learning, and the importance of developing industry-ready professionals who can contribute to the long-term growth and resilience of the financial services sector.

By bringing together FPSB India’s expertise in advancing the financial planning profession and BFSI SSC’s experience in skilling and workforce development, the association seeks to create opportunities that benefit learners, young professionals, and the broader industry. The two organisations will explore initiatives spanning education, professional development, industry engagement, career awareness, and capability building.

Commenting on the partnership, Ramesh Vishwanathan, CEO, FPSB India, said:

“Financial decision-making is becoming increasingly complex for individuals and families, making access to competent and ethical financial planning more important than ever. To meet these evolving expectations, the sector requires professionals who possess not only technical knowledge but also a deep understanding of client needs and long-term financial outcomes. This association represents an opportunity to encourage greater participation in the financial planning profession and support the development of capabilities that are relevant in today’s dynamic environment. We believe such collaborations can play a meaningful role in elevating professional standards and creating a stronger foundation for the future of financial planning in India.”

Speaking on the occasion, Rishi Dhariwal, CEO, BFSI Sector Skill Council of India, said:

“India’s financial services landscape is witnessing significant growth and transformation, creating diverse opportunities for professionals across banking, insurance, wealth management and fintech. As roles evolve, there is a growing need to ensure that aspiring professionals are equipped with practical knowledge and competencies that align with industry expectations. We see this collaboration as an opportunity to facilitate learning pathways, encourage professional growth and help individuals build rewarding careers within the financial services sector. By working together, we can contribute to a more capable workforce that is prepared for the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.”
