Hindustan International School (HIS) organized a highly engaging and informative Anti-Drug Awareness session to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The session was led by Mr. Deepak Kaushik, Superintendent of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chennai Zonal Unit aimed to raise awareness among students about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making informed, healthy life choices.

With over a decade of experience in anti-narcotics operations across India—including major maritime drug seizures—Mr. Kaushik shared first-hand insights from the field. His address focused on the alarming rise of drug abuse among youth, its psychological and social consequences, and the legal frameworks surrounding narcotics control in India.

During his address, Mr. Kaushik said, “Young people are the future of our country. It’s important that they understand the dangers of drug abuse early in life so they can make the right choices and help create a healthier, drug-free India.”

. Students were deeply impacted by Mr. Kaushik’s real-life accounts of high-risk operations and appreciated his honest insights and practical advice on staying vigilant and helping peers through awareness and empathy. The Principal and Dean of Academics (HIS) felicitated Mr. Kaushik for his valuable contribution. Later, all participants took part in an Anti-Drug Pledge, affirming their commitment to leading a healthy and responsible life.

Supporting the initiative, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of the Hindustan Group of Institutions, said, “At Hindustan International School, our mission is to build responsible and emotionally strong individuals. This campaign is a step toward helping our students understand real-life challenges and empowering them to make mindful choices for a better future.”
