DPS International (DPSI) conducted its 13th Investiture Ceremony on September 21, formally inducting its newly elected Student Council, the Thirteenth Senate, for the academic year 2026–27. Held under the theme “Shades of Rising Sun,” the ceremony highlighted DPSI’s focus on developing student leadership rooted in responsibility, service, student voice and meaningful contribution to the school community.
The ceremony brought together students, faculty, parents and distinguished guests to mark the transition of leadership to the new Senate. The proceedings included a ceremonial procession, badge presentation and sashing of the new Senate, oath-taking and the symbolic Change of Guard ceremony.
The occasion was graced by Ranveer Singh Saini, Hattrick Medallist at the Special Olympics and recipient of the National and BHIM Awards, as the Guest of Honour. Mrs Bhakhtawar Saini, Deputy Chairperson, Scottish High International School, and Mr Rajiv Misra, Dean – Integrated Studies, Scottish High International School, were also present as distinguished guests.
Addressing the newly elected Senate, Ms Rima Singh, Head of School, DPSI, congratulated the student leaders and outlined three guiding principles for their tenure: leading with substance rather than self-promotion, listening more than speaking, and leaving the institution better than they found it.
Emphasising that leadership should extend beyond titles and visible achievements, she encouraged the students to focus on creating a lasting legacy. She said, “At the end of your term, I hope we can point to something and say: ‘The Thirteenth Senate changed that.’”
She urged the student leaders to strengthen the sense of belonging across the campus, create initiatives that would outlast their tenure, amplify student voices, and contribute to a kinder and more inclusive school community. The message placed lasting impact, rather than visibility alone, at the heart of student leadership.
The Thirteenth Senate assumes responsibilities across a diverse range of areas, including academics, STEM, culture, sports, literary and media initiatives, technology and wellness, community outreach, and house leadership. This broad structure reflects DPSI’s emphasis on providing students with opportunities to take ownership and contribute meaningfully to different aspects of school life.
The ceremony also celebrated the wider school community, with students presenting a vibrant blend of dance and music. The Change of Guard symbolised the continuity of student leadership and the passing of responsibility from one cohort to the next.
