Bringing the curtains down on a two-month long Shaurya Vandan series to honour and pay tribute to Kargil war martyrs on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil war, ALLEN Career Institute, two days after Kargil Vijay Diwas, on July 28 held the concluding Shaurya Vandan national event at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Arena (Indoor sports complex) where 32 families of Kargil martyrs were honoured. In all 280 martyr families were honoured during the past two months under this series in various cities.
Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State for Defense along with Param Vir Chakra recipient Captain Yogendra Singh and the four directors of Allen paid an emotional tribute to these heroes during an impressive ceremony held for these families. Over 15,000 students preparing for medical and engineering exams at various Allen centres witnessed the proceedings of this event with rapt attention and applause.
According to Captain Yogendra Singh (PVC), who has been pivotal in running this theme for Allen this year, it is an act of developing courage and remembrance among children from Kargil War. Dr. Naveen Maheshwari, Director of ALLEN Career Institute, shared, “We believe in imparting values along with education. We started the Shaurya Vandan series on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay. So far, Shaurya Vandan programs have been held in 14 states & UT. , such as Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, and West Bengal, honoring 280 families of Kargil martyrs.”
During the event, the families of 32 martyrs who lost their lives in the Kargil war were honoured and the heartfelt memories shared by the families moved many to tears. “We wanted to cap it all by hosting a national event to bring all these martyr families on national stage. The stories of these heroes and their families provide a strong motivation for all of us and particularly young students to accept the challenges and not get bogged down. The blessings of these families are very special and our children are fortunate to be engaged in something like this,” said Dr. Govind Maheshwari.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in a recorded message lauded the profound impact of the sacrifices made by soldiers during the Kargil war. He urged the youth to emulate the dedication and patriotism of the Kargil martyrs. Highlighting the significance of values in education, Speaker Birla noted, “Life is incomplete without values. When education is accompanied by values, life becomes complete. We should learn discipline and the spirit of living for the country from the lives of martyrs and soldiers.”
Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, chief guest at the event, encouraged students to delve into the history of the country’s wars and to draw inspiration from the bravery and sacrifices of the army. “Learn discipline, determination, and courage to sacrifice from the army. The life of a soldier is a lesson in itself, showcasing their dedication to serving the country while being thousands of kilometers away from their families,” said Minister Seth.
Param Vir Chakra awardee Subedar Major Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav praised ALLEN Career Institute for honoring the families of Kargil martyrs. “Just as a warrior fights for the country, a student should also be determined to take the country forward. There should be full efforts to achieve the target, even in studies,” Captain Yadav said.
In the ceremony, Param Vir Chakra awardee Caption Yogendra Yadav, ALLEN Directors Dr. Govind Maheshwari, Rajesh Maheshwari, Dr. Naveen Maheshwari, Dr Brajesh Maheshwari, CEO Nitin Kukreja, and Zonal Head and Vice President Amit Mohan Agarwal paid tribute to the martyrs’ families and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their sacrifices.
