‘Learn with Leaders’ – a global education initiative, in partnership with Harvard Undergraduate Clean Energy Group (HUCEG), has announced the second leg of its ‘Sustainability & Innovation Challenge 2022’ . The four-week challenge is set to begin on the 8th of October and will be open for classes 8th-12th.  The Challenge 2022 will wrap up on the 6th of November with the conclusion of the final round and felicitation of winners.

The Sustainability and Innovation Challenge will focus on mentoring young changemakers as they kick-start their sustainability journey. Students will be guided by Harvard mentors and global leaders on how they can start their journey and come up with interesting solutions to common environmental problems. The goal of the event is to inspire and encourage high school students to tackle issues of sustainability and climate action in their communities.

Based on the initial submissions up to 25 teams will be selected for the semi-final round which will be conducted on the 30th of October. During the course of this challenge, participating students will receive guidance from HUCEG members regarding the creativity, feasibility, and implementation methods for their projects. In addition to receiving participation certificates from HUCEG and LwL, enrolled students will also be provided access to all LwL webinars. The top 3 teams or winners, on the other hand, will be awarded cash prizes from a pool of $1000 along with 3-4 mentoring sessions across 6-8 months to execute their business solution and  stand a chance to get funding for their projects.

The competition will begin with a series of sustainability webinars on topics such as the energy internet, LEED certification, clean energy transition in the developing world, SDGs & global cooperation, climate activism and lobbying as a high school student, climate mitigation, climate adaptation and sustainable agriculture.

These webinars will be conducted by distinguished Harvard mentors namely Justin Xu, Jan Riecke, Dulcie Price, Devin Guevara, Carlie McGrath and Jenna Albezreh. The following weekend mentors from Harward will present another round of webinars on the above-mentioned topics following which on the 17th of October the competition will begin. During this week, participants will be required to submit their business idea/solution, either as individuals or in teams of up to four participants.
