The sixth edition of ROM 2026 – The Physio Run for Drug-Free India, organised by SRM College of Physiotherapy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, concluded at the Kattankulathur campus on Oct 1 after a 700 km non-stop recurrent relay run from Kanyakumari. Bringing together 66 runners, the initiative promoted fitness, collective responsibility and awareness for a drug-free India, in line with the vision of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The run was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Pratap, IAS, Kanniyakumari District Collector, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ADSP), Nagercoil, and other government officials. As part of the outreach activities along the route, more than 4,000 school students participated in awareness initiatives and took pledges supporting the cause of a drug-free India. These interactions extended the message of the run beyond the campuses and into the wider community.

The concluding Resonation Ceremony was held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the Presidential Address.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan said, “The real purpose of a run like this goes beyond endurance. It lies in the social message we carry to the community and the awareness we create along the way.”

Prof. T. S. Veeragoudhaman, Dean, SRM College of Physiotherapy, highlighted the responsibility that extends beyond completing the run. He said, “The Physio Run may have concluded today, but our social responsibility must continue. Let the torch resonate, let the values endure, and let the message reach society.”

The ceremony included the welcome address by Dr. S. F. Mariyam Farzana, Associate Professor and Organising Secretary, the torch resonation speech by Prof. T. S. Veeragoudhaman, and special addresses by dignitaries. The programme also featured a visual chronicle of ROM 2026, the release of the ROM 2026 book cover and the ROM 2025 book, and recognition of the ROM team and its legacy of endurance.

The event was organised under the leadership of Prof. T. S. Veeragoudhaman, Dean, SRM College of Physiotherapy and Organising Chairman, with Dr. T. N. Suresh, Vice Principal and Organising Co-Chairman, and Dr. S. F. Mariyam Farzana, Associate Professor and Organising Secretary, along with the organising team.
