1M1B (One Million for One Billion) on Sep 10 announced the names of Top 500 Changemakers shortlisted for the next round of the Changemakers World Cup- a nationwide initiative to identify and spotlight 100 of India’s most inspiring changemakers. The announcement was made at a recently held special event Green Skills @ 2047 hosted at UN House in New Delhi. The top 100 talents will represent India at the prestigious 1M1B Activate Impact Summit at the United Nations in Geneva this November

The Changemakers World Cup (CWC) is a unique talent discovery platform for students, social innovators, educators, entrepreneurs, and grassroots leaders taking meaningful action in their communities in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Changemakers from across India working on climate change, education, mental health, social equity, and technology for good, enthusiastically participated in the competition.

Over 2500 participants from across the country took part in the first edition of Changemakers world cup with the representation from the cities and tier II & III towns like Delhi, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Gangtok, Kangra etc. A separate focus was also made to invite Changemakers from Kashmir. The competition witnessed strong participation from the schools and colleges across India. Mayoor Public School – Noida, Delhi Public School – Benguluru East and Gwalior Glory High School were some of the top participating schools

The Changemakers World Cup included two tracks: Young Changemakers Track – For under 18 years, and Pro Changemakers Track – For those 18 and above, including college students, professionals, NGOs, and educators. Participants could register as individuals or teams under one of the three themes – Act for Change, Speak for Change, Act for Change.

The competition followed a gamified mission-based format, allowing participants to complete missions, earn points, and climb the leaderboard to win the top spot. The participants competed in 7 missions including two interesting ones – Letters For Change, that required students to challenge unsustainable practices through bold open letters, sparking accountability and creative advocacy for people and the planet and Circularity in Action, which mobilized students to collect and donate tons of e-waste and used clothing — keeping it out of landfills and raising awareness about overconsumption. The 500 changemakers were selected based on their scores from the missions and will now compete in the knockout missions. Interesting missions from the first level

“With the Changemakers World Cup, our vision is to democratize opportunity, enabling young innovators from every corner of India to present their solutions on global platforms like the United Nations. This initiative reflects India’s commitment to nurturing inclusive leadership and positioning our youth at the forefront of climate and social impact.” said Manav Subodh, Founder & Chief Mentor, 1M1B.
