The SIGMA-oikos committeeย ofย XLRI Jamshedpurย marked the successful conclusion of theย 16th edition of Daan Utsavย (October-December 2024)ย on Indiaโs festival of giving, with a series of impactful initiatives that brought together students, faculty, and community partners. Celebrating two decades of service and compassion, the committee reaffirmed XLRIโs commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive future.
The week-long event commenced with aย Blood Donation Driveย that collected over 80 units of blood, setting a powerful precedent for a celebration dedicated to altruism, service, and the enduring spirit of giving.
Wish Treeย was another heartwarming initiative that fulfilled the dreams of children and families, thanks to the generosity of over 180 contributors. In partnership with NGOs such asย People for Change,ย Shiva Educational Trust, andย Sahyog Village,ย the campaign raised over โน1.3 Lakhs, transforming heartfelt wishes into realities.
The Cloth Donation Driveย made a significant impact, with over 15,000 clothing items contributed by campus members and partner institutions. These donations extended warmth and comfort to underserved communities across nine villages, exemplifying the power of collective compassion.
Addressing health and hygiene, theย Menstrual Awareness Drive, conducted in collaboration with theย Robinhood Armyย andย Koru Foundation, educated over 200 women in Gitilata village, Potka, on menstrual health. Sustainable cloth pad kits were distributed, promoting dignity and environmental consciousness.
The Gift of Timeย initiative focused on fostering human connections, with XLRI student volunteers spending quality time with over 160 elderly and specially-abled residents atย R.P. Patel Cheshire Homeย andย Nirmal Hriday.ย Through companionship and care, this initiative highlighted the value of emotional support and inclusion.

Promoting economic empowerment, the event partnered withย Udaanย to support visually impaired artisans. Festive stalls featuring handmade candles, diyas, and snacks were set up during Diwali and Christmas, creating an inclusive platform for their skills while enriching the festive spirit.
