WorldQuant, a global quantitative asset management firm, launched Learn2Quant, a beginners’ series designed to help aspiring learners master the fundamentals of quant research. Hosted by WorldQuant’s Chief Strategy Officer, Nitish Maini, this series features 10 lessons that offer a comprehensive introduction to quantitative finance research, covering key areas such as data collection, model development, and risk management.
The series emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing participants to explore core concepts, understand how different quant models play out in the real world, and immediately apply their knowledge. The lessons cover various aspects of quantitative finance, including:
- How to come up with your own signal ideas
- Building signals across different data categories, idea types, holding frequencies, and delays
- Diversifying your pool of signals
- Managing risk in your pool of signals
- Advanced research techniques
“Interest in quantitative finance continues to grow, yet relatively few accessible resources exist to help educate people,” said Nitish Maini, Chief Strategy Officer at WorldQuant. “WorldQuant is providing open access to data and insights through its simulation platform, WorldQuant BRAIN, while also offering learners a chance to deepen their understanding of the field and get a jumpstart in their quant careers. This series is an opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to access a strong quantitative finance education and to help us engage and cultivate the next generation of quant talent worldwide.”
BRAIN’s interactive nature allows learners to receive immediate feedback and refine their models, offering a hands-on, practical experience that directly builds on the concepts taught in the Learn2Quant series. Used by over 150,000 emerging quants across 180+ countries, WorldQuant’s cloud-based BRAIN platform provides access to a wide-ranging quant data library, featuring approximately 120,000 data fields spanning market, economic, and alternative datasets.
The Learn2Quant series will be available to learners on the WorldQuant Careers YouTube channel.
