Himachal Pradesh, June 2025: Recognising its commitment to environmental sustainability and empirical science education, the Centre for Science Learning and Creativity (CSLC) Science Museum in Shoghi has been conferred the First Prize in Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Award 2023–24.
The award, presented by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on World Environment Day, highlights the state’s growing emphasis on green innovation, youth empowerment, and environmentally responsible infrastructure. Also present at the ceremony were Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and Deputy Speaker Keval Singh Pathania.
Chief Minister Sukvinder Singh Sukhu, said, “The CSLC Museum has immense potential to spark interest in science and mathematics among both children and educators. It will help cultivate a scientific and rational mindset crucial for the state’s future.”
Instituted by the state government, the Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Awards aim to acknowledge individuals and institutions championing excellence in sustainable development. The recognition of CSLC underscores its pivotal role in promoting hands-on science learning, cultivating a scientific mindset among students, and contributing to Himachal’s growing educational tourism landscape.
Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor of Shoolini University, said, “This award is a recognition of our field-level innovation, green initiatives, and the quality ecosystem we have built at CSLC. It’s a proud moment for all of us and a first in Shoolini’s journey.”
Located amidst the scenic hills of Shoghi near Shimla, CSLC is the first state-level science museum in Himachal Pradesh. Jointly established by the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) and managed by Shoolini University, the museum serves as a dynamic platform for science exploration, environmental awareness, and skill-based learning.
It features interactive science exhibits, a dedicated Hall of Fame celebrating Indian scientists, a library, and a content creation YouTube studio — all designed to engage young learners, especially from rural areas. The museum also conducts workshops and certificate programs on ecotourism, nature conservation, and wild beekeeping.
Vishal Anand, Pro Chancellor, Shoolini University, added, “This milestone shows what becomes possible when science, sustainability, and passion intersect. The award is more than recognition — it is a validation of the vision and impact we strive to create.”

The success of the CSLC Museum is the result of collaborative leadership, particularly from Team CSLC under the stewardship of Brig. S.D. Mehta, and active participation from Shoolini’s academic and outreach arms. Together, they have built a model institution that reflects the best of education, sustainability, and service to society.
