Nemetschek Group India and Anna University, Chennai on March 7 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an AEC Centre of Excellence aimed at enhancing industry readiness for engineering and architecture students. The agreement exemplifies a shared commitment to bridging the skills gap in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry by integrating Nemetschek technology and industry-relevant training into the academic curricula.
The MoU signing was held in the presence of esteemed academicians, industry experts, and key stakeholders from the engineering education ecosystem. The initiative focused on raising awareness about emerging job opportunities and career advancements in core engineering fields such as Civil Engineering and Architecture, addressing concerns over the declining interest in traditional engineering disciplines amidst the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Information Technology (IT).
Speaking on the occasion, Nirmalya Chatterjee, Managing Director, Nemetschek Group India, said, “This collaboration with Anna University marks a significant step towards bridging the industry-academia gap in India’s AEC sector. Our goal is to equip students with the necessary technological expertise and practical knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the industry. The Centre of Excellence will serve as a hub for skill development, ensuring that future engineers and architects are job-ready from day one.”
The AEC Centre of Excellence will focus on equipping students with industry-relevant skills, offering specialized training in Building Information Modelling (BIM), structural analysis, and digital construction technologies. The collaboration aims to enhance the employability of graduates by aligning academic programs with industry requirements, ensuring that they are well-prepared to contribute effectively to India’s growing infrastructure and construction sectors.
