K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), a leading Private B-school in India,  recently hosted its annual multi-disciplinary conference- Samavaya 2025. Held at the Vidyavihar campus in Mumbai, the three-day event centered on the theme, ‘Purpose-driven Leadership: Disruptions and Sustainability Imperatives.’ The conference brought together eminent academicians and industry professionals from around the world to exchange ideas, build connections, and explore innovative approaches to leadership and sustainability.

A major highlight was the keynote address by Dr. Binish Desai, Founder of Reeartham, a renowned environmentalist and social activist, also known as the ‘Recycle Man of India’. Dr. Desai shared his journey of transforming industrial waste into eco-friendly products, inspiring attendees with his sustainable solutions for global challenges. The conference was further graced by Dr. Justin Paul, Dean SBM & Provost – Management Education at NMIMS, as the Guest of Honour.

The conference included a keynote session, three workshops, and research tracks. Over 60 research papers and 10 case studies were presented.

The conference featured workshops led by global thought leaders, including Dr. Satish Kumar (IIM Nagpur) on Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Review, Dr. Murugan Puttusamy (University of Hyderabad) on Advanced Mediation and Moderation Analysis, and Dr. Sayantan Mukherjee (IIM Indore) on Content Analysis for Qualitative Research.

Reflecting on the conference’s theme, Dr. Raman Ramachandran, Dean and Director of K J Somaiya Institute of Management, stated:
“While profitability remains essential for businesses, ‘profit with purpose’ is increasingly recognised as the only sustainable way to address the world’s pressing challenges. Issues like social inequality, affordable healthcare, and environmental degradation cannot be resolved solely by governments or non-profits. Businesses must innovate to tackle these challenges responsibly. Through Samavaya 2025, we aimed to highlight how purpose-driven leadership can address these disruptions and sustainability imperatives.”

Samavaya 2025 offered a dynamic platform for faculty, researchers, and students to engage with global thought leaders, fostering collaboration and sparking transformative ideas. The event reaffirmed KJSIM’s commitment to excellence in education and its role as a catalyst for meaningful change.
