JBCN International School campuses in Oshiwara, Parel, and Chembur hosted the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition 2024, showcasing the remarkable initiatives and projects of their Grade 5 learners.

Under the overarching theme of environmental sustainability, each campus explored distinct yet interconnected facets of this critical global issue. The PYP Exhibition displays the skills and knowledge gathered over the five years of the IB Primary Years Programme as they transition to middle school. Where learners explore, document, and share their understanding of real-world issues or topics, culminating in a showcase for the community.

Oshiwara Campus: “From Ideas to Impact: The Power of Young Changemakers”

Under the Transdisciplinary Unit “Sharing the Planet” and the theme “From Ideas to Impact: The Power of Young Changemakers,” JBCN International School, Oshiwara, embarked on a journey to delve into the incredible potential of its learners to initiate meaningful change. Parents joined as mentors, amplifying the collaborative learning experience. The Grade 5 learners, inspired by their chosen Changemakers, showcased 18 diverse action projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Notably, the school’s commitment extended beyond exhibition displays, gathering over INR 40,000 directed towards community outreach projects, i.e. learners bought water filters for the Zilla Parishad School in Chimbipada and edible food items for the Robin Hood army, which have been distributed to the underprivileged.

Parel Campus: “What it Means to be Human”

Parel campus Primary exhibition explored the inquiry into “What it Means to be Human” through the transdisciplinary theme “Who We Are.” The Grade 5 learners demonstrated independence of thought, action, and reflective capabilities as they showcased their journey towards becoming young leaders. Through academic excellence and soft skills, they addressed real-world challenges, reflecting the values of collaboration and empathy.

Chembur Campus: “Sharing The Planet”

Chembur Campus embraced the “Sharing The Planet” theme as its young minds delved into pressing global issues such as water scarcity, war, climate change, and waste management. Embracing sustainability, the exhibition transitioned to a digital platform, amplifying the message of environmental stewardship. Through diverse forms of expression, learners deepened their understanding and empowered themselves to take meaningful action for a sustainable future. The learners went paperless to stay true to the sustainability theme. The learners also took this opportunity to highlight the waste segregation process and its importance to the neighbouring Chembur Education Society school learners.

At the heart of the exhibitions was the commitment to nurturing young Changemakers who are empowered to drive positive change in their communities and beyond. Each campus uniquely explored this theme, reflecting the diverse interests and passions of the learners.

Speaking about PYP Exhibition Kunal Dalal – Managing Director, JBCN Education, said, “The PYP Exhibition is a celebration of our young learners’ curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. We are proud of them as they are taking ownership of their learning and thinking of how to positively impact the world around them.” He further emphasised the importance of inculcating a culture of sustainability among learners, highlighting the institution’s commitment to encouraging responsible global citizens and Changemakers.
