The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a deemed-to-be university under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is collaborating with Empower India (a New Delhi-based leading policy think tank) to organise an essay competition on, “Addressing Payment Reconciliation Challenges for Indian Exporters”. The competition will serve as a platform for management students to critically analyse challenges and propose actionable policy ideas. It will be followed by a webinar where insights from the winning essay will be discussed.
The competition is open to students from all three IIFT campuses – Delhi, Kolkata, and Kakinada. Students will be required to submit essays ranging between 2,000 to 3,000 words exploring challenges and solutions in payment reconciliation for Indian exporters, the role of RBI regulations, and best practices from global markets that could be adopted by India. Recommendations from the entries will be subsequently sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
A panel of esteemed jury members will evaluate the entries, selecting the top six essays for oral presentations. The jury members include Nirupama Soundararajan, Founder & CEO, Policy Consensus Centre; K Giri, Director General, Empower India and Vinod Kumar, President, India SME Forum. The winners will be awarded INR 70,000 for the first prize. INR 50,000 and INR 30,000 will be given for the second and third prize respectively.
The last date for essay submissions is 3rd April 2025. Interested students are encouraged to participate and make a valuable contribution to India’s evolving export ecosystem.
