Ahmedabad’s GLS University has launched its Global B.Design (Hons.) programme in collaboration with Australia’s SAE Institute, marking a landmark moment for creative media education in India. This innovative four-year undergraduate programme is the first of its kind in the country, offering globally benchmarked specialisations in Animation & VFX and Game Development.

This collaboration marks SAE Institute’s formal entry into India, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the country’s rapidly growing creative industries. SAE Institute, part of the Careers and Industry Division of the Navitas group, has been a global leader in creative media and technology education for 50 years, offering world-class, project-based learning in Animation, Audio, Computer Science, Design, Film, Games, Information Technology, Music, and VFX & Virtual Production, with 47 campuses across 20 countries.

The formal signing ceremony for the launch of the Global B. Design (Hons.) programme took place on Dec 8 in the presence of Sudhir Nanavati, President of GLS University, and Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director of GLS University, alongside several eminent dignitaries. Senior representatives from Navitas, including Jenna Schiller, Head of Education Partnerships, Careers & Industry Division, and Steve Hird, General Manager, Marketing & Recruitment for South Asia, along with other senior dignitaries from Navitas, were also present.

The Global B.Design (Hons.) programme aims to develop industry-ready graduates by combining GLS University’s academic expertise with SAE Institute’s five decades of world-class, practice-led training. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning though a project-based structure, ensuring students build practical skills from the day one using state-of-the- art studios and tools adopted by leading global creative studios.

The programme also offers opportunities for international immersion and exchange, giving students a valuable global perspective essential for success in modern creative and technology-driven sectors. Graduates will receive an SAE Institute qualification, accredited and awarded as a B.Design (Hons.) by GLS University, an internationally recognised certification that enhances global employability and career mobility.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director of GLS University, said, “We are proud to partner with SAE Australia to launch the exclusive Global B. Design (Hons.) Programme in India. This collaboration bridges the gap in India’s rapidly growing creative industries by providing students with world-class education in Animation & VFX and Game Development. Our aim is to empower the next generation of Indian creators to not only succeed in the global market but to lead the charge in shaping the future of creative media.”

Jenna Schiller, Head of Education Partnerships, Careers & Industry Division, Navitas, said,”We are thrilled to partner with GLS University to establish our presence in India. This collaboration ensures that the next generation of Indian creators receives the highest standard of technical and creative education, preparing them to join our global community of successful alumni at major creative industry giants.”

Students will also benefit from GLS University’s extensive network of over 1,000 industry connections, providing unparalleled access to internships, real-world projects, and employment opportunities with top-tier companies in animation, VFX, and gaming. In addition, they will become part of the SAE community, gaining access to a worldwide network of creative media professionals and industry experts.
