Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, recently organised a two-day international conference themed ‘Circular Economy, Management and Industry 4.0 leading towards Sustainability’. Among other things, the hybrid offline and online conference addressed the post-pandemic challenges for India and the need to adopt Industry 4.0, with a sustainable approach.

The conference, held in collaboration with Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute Of Management Studies and Research (BVIMSR), Navi Mumbai, witnessed  participation of more than 100 attendees around the world, online and onsite.

On the inaugural day, organised at ASM campus, Dr. Etinder Pal Singh, Director, ASM highlighted the current trends in sustainability while delivering the welcome address. He further threw light on how Indians are practicing sustainable living and what more can be done to address the current challenges that the country is facing as a result of the pandemic.

Sharing the theme of the conference, Prof Kamal Kishore, Dean, ASM further talked about financial implications of the circular economy and benefits that Industry 4.0 can bring to various industries. This was followed by paper presentations by researchers in the offline mode. Along with the onsite conference activities, paper presentation tracks were run parallely on multiple online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet where over 40 papers where presented.

A brainstorming panel discussion on ‘Reflection on Circular Economy and industry 4.0 leading towards sustainability’ saw esteemed panellists such as Mr. Joe Houghton, UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Dublin, Ireland, Dr. Ishita Adhikari, Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka, Delhi, Dr. Anviti Gupta, Professor (Psychology), School Of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University, U.P. and Dr. Mona Sinha, Program Director, Emirates College for Management and Information Technology, Dubai.

A circular economy is a model of production and consumption involving sharing/ leasing/ reusing/repairing/refurbishing/recycling existing materials and products in tune with sustainability goals.

The second day of the conference was dedicated for online paper presentations by participants all over the world, followed by the much awaited Guest of Honour speech by Dr. Esther Tippman, Professor, Strategy, Leadership and Change, National University of Ireland, Galway. The All India Council for Technical Education (ACTE) was the sponsor of this international conference
