Admissions are open across nine campuses: Amaravati, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Chennai, Faridabad, Kochi, Mysuru, and Nagercoil. Applicants must have a minimum of 60% in postgraduate studies. NET/GATE/CSIR-qualified candidates may attend a direct interview, while others will take a written test followed by an interview.
Ph.D. programmes are offered in Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computing, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Agricultural Sciences, Architecture and Management.
The university offers Ph.D. scholars monthly fellowships between ₹30,000 and ₹40,000 for three years, along with financial support for publications and conference travel, tuition waivers, and access to laboratory and research facilities. Amrita allocates funding annually to support doctoral research across its campuses.
