Spanning over three days, the key highlights of Genesis MUN held last week included extensive outreach programs, comprehensive training sessions, with focus on enhancement of diplomatic and public speaking skills. The theme for this year’s conference was ‘Bhumi Bhavato Nityam’, which emphasizes upon the need to protect Earth by adapting sustainable development practices in our day-to-day activities. This was the 9th edition of Genesis Model United Nations (Genesis MUN 2024) held in collaboration with City One Initiative by Noida’s Genesis Global School.

Siddharth Rajhans, an International Career Diplomat & Principal Policy Advisor at the United Nations Headquarters, was the chief guest for the Genesis Model UN simulation. Addressing the gathering, the seasoned career diplomat shared his outlook on diplomacy and the geo-strategic importance as well as heft of India on the global paradigm in current times. His current work on diplomacy and international relations is in sync with this year’s theme of sustainability, as he has been instrumental in advocating the power of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN to make a positive impact in the lives of Indians and people in the APAC region.

The MUN Coordinator of Genesis MUN 2024, Ms Nidhi Saxena, extended her heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, including students from different parts of the country, faculty advisors and secretariat members. While thanking all for their steadfast dedication in making the event successful, she elaborated on the focus and strength of the event saying, “Genesis MUN 2024 witnessed participation from more than 300 students from over 10 schools pan India. At the foundation of the event is focus on diversity and inclusivity.”

Sharing his thoughts on how the Genesis Mun fosters upskilling among students, City One Initiative Founder & CEO Mr Shivansh Ahuja said, “Introduction of grade-specific committees and agendas for the students of grades 5 to 8 along with the continued presence of a dedicated committee for Parents and Teachers has helped in expanded upskilling.”
