The Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) at IIT Hyderabad will be undertaking a massive expansion in innovation in healthcare technologies, powered by the infusion of US$ 9.6 Million (Rs. 80 Crore Approx) by Sushant Kumar, Founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures.

This funding support will also provide an impetus towards CfHE’s efforts to achieve indigenisation of technology in this critical field. The Center, which is a Nationally-recognized Healthcare Technology Business Incubator, aims to accelerate the development and adoption of breakthrough healthcare solutions to address unmet needs and improve patient outcomes.

Healthcare challenges are becoming increasingly complex and diverse, as was evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initiatives like CfHE foster a culture of innovation and collaboration by working jointly with academia, industry and the entrepreneurial community.

Lauding the work underway at CfHE, Sushant Kumar, Founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures, stated, “I am excited to hear the innovations and success stories that have come out of CfHE. I am proud to be part of this vibrant ecosystem fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. The substantial investment will empower CfHE to expand its initiatives aimed at nurturing aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities necessary to translate innovative ideas into impactful solutions.”

Some of the Key Innovations that have come out of CfHE include:

A.    ArmAble, which is a neurorehabilitation device for stroke from the Start-up BeAble Health Pvt Ltd

B.    Nemocare Raksha a small IoT enabled wearable for safeguarding neonates from Nemocare Wellnes Pvt Ltd

C.    Vaccine on Wheels platform enabling vaccinations at the last mile with a reach to 2.5 Million beneficiaries in 3 years from Jivika Healthcare Pvt Limited

Thanking Mr. Sushant Kumar for his generous support, Prof.  Renu John, Head, Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE), IIT Hyderabad, said, “This pledge not only represents a significant financial contribution but also exemplifies a shared commitment to driving positive change through innovation and entrepreneurship.”

The pledge marks a significant stride towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. Mr. Sushant Kumar’s commitment underscores the growing recognition of the pivotal role that entrepreneurship plays in driving advancements and solutions within the healthcare industry.

Sharing his vision for the institute becoming a beacon of innovation with far-reaching societal impact, Prof B. S. Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said, “We envision IIT Hyderabad to be the cradle of innovations that touch the lives of millions and create a significant impact in the society. Medical Devices and Diagnostics is one of the key areas of healthcare where a considerable gap exists in the supply of devices, trained workforce, and indigenous development.”
