The Sharda Center for Semicon Technology, Sharda University, in collaboration with Semicon Gurukul, organized a two-day hands-on workshop titled “Code to Chip – Complete ASIC Flow” to strengthen Academia – Industry Semiconductor Talent Ecosystem. The programme provided participants with practical exposure to the complete ASIC design journey, covering RTL development, verification, synthesis, physical implementation, timing closure, and sign off using Cadence EDA tools.
The workshop was enriched by the participation of seasoned professionals from Qualcomm, Marvell Technology, and NXP Semiconductors, who shared real‑world insights into GPU system modelling, front‑end verification, and back‑end physical design. Their sessions offered students, faculty, and researchers a holistic view of how semiconductor concepts progress from code to chip‑ready implementation, bridging academic learning with industry workflows.
This initiative aligns with the vision of Shri Alok Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who has been spearheading semiconductor skill development in the state. Through the Invest UP platform, Uttar Pradesh has positioned semiconductor design, investment, and talent skilling as key pillars of its emerging ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Y.K. The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Pallavi Gupta (Dean) & Prof. (Dr.) Ruqaiya Khanam, Department of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sharda University.
With access to EDA resources under the MeitY Chip‑to‑Startup (C2S) Programme, continued industry collaborations, and research‑oriented activities, Sharda University is committed to building a strong semiconductor talent pipeline. The successful completion of the “Code to Chip” workshop marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and positioning Uttar Pradesh as a hub for innovation and skill development.
