While demand for education professionals has increased overall, job postings point to growing opportunities across specialised roles and more flexible forms of employment. Job postings for several language teaching roles, for instance, recorded notable growth over the past year. Teaching roles fell to their lowest point in October 2025 before recovering steadily from January 2026 onward. By July 2026, postings had reached their strongest level in the 12-month period, marking nine consecutive months of growth. At the same time, contract and part-time teaching opportunities grew faster than traditional full-time roles.
The data is based on trends in job postings within India’s education sector between July 2025 and July 2026 and analyzed by Indeed.

Demand for regional educators is growing steadily alongside English. Whether people are looking outward to international opportunities or looking inward to expand local reach, language learning in India is thriving across every front.”
Flexible teaching opportunities are growing faster
While full-time education-sector job postings increased by nearly 14% over the past year, contract roles grew by almost 40%. Part-time opportunities also increased by nearly 28%.
The faster growth of these roles could reflect employers’ need for greater flexibility, particularly when hiring professionals with specialised expertise or responding to specific and changing learning requirements.
For professionals, the shift could also create opportunities for different ways of working within the education sector.
Teaching opportunities concentrated across key education markets
Education-sector hiring remains particularly strong across several major Indian states.
As of July 2026, Maharashtra accounted for the largest share of education-sector job postings on Indeed at 14.3%, followed closely by Tamil Nadu at 14.2%. Karnataka accounted for 11.8% of postings, while Kerala represented 10%.
Together, these four states accounted for more than half of the education-sector job postings analysed.
Uttar Pradesh and Telangana also represented significant markets for education-sector opportunities, accounting for 6.7% and 6.3% of postings respectively.
For job seekers, developing relevant expertise and remaining adaptable could become increasingly important. While traditional full-time teaching roles continue to form a significant part of the market, specialised and flexible opportunities may create additional pathways for professionals at different stages of their careers.
