Udaan, a large-scale Artificial Intelligence education initiative powered by Sunstone, successfully conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at Rathinam Institute of Technology, Bangalore, equipping over 50+ academic leaders and faculty members with practical, hands-on training in Generative AI and its classroom applications.
The initiative was designed to help educators move beyond traditional teaching methods and embrace AI as a practical tool for enhancing classroom engagement, streamlining assessments, and strengthening academic leadership. By bringing faculty members into a collaborative, tech-enabled learning environment, the programme aimed to build confidence and readiness for an AI-driven future in education.
The training session was led by Mr. Rammohan Thirupasur, a Generative AI Strategist and former Associate Director at IBM/Kyndryl with over 28 years of global IT experience. Recognized as one of India’s top Gen AI leaders by DISAi magazine, Mr. Thirupasur has trained over 600 professionals across leading enterprises including KPMG, Wipro, EY, ABB, and Siemens.
During the session, faculty members received intensive hands-on training in Prompt Engineering and Generative AI, gaining real-time exposure to industry-leading tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Notebook LM. Educators learned how to integrate these tools into lesson planning, create dynamic assessments, and personalize learning experiences for students.
The programme witnessed strong engagement throughout the day. Faculty members participated in interactive workshops, practiced crafting effective prompts, and explored how AI tools can be used for research, productivity, and real-time problem-solving in academic settings. Each participant walked away with a toolkit of immediately applicable practices and a deeper understanding of how Generative AI can transform everyday teaching.
Dr. Priyanka B. Dongre, Principal of Rathinam Institute of Technology emphasized the impact of the training, stating, ” When we invest in training our teachers, we are directly investing in the quality of education our students receive. It was inspiring to see such enthusiastic participation from our faculty, eager to embrace these powerful tools.”
